Carey Mulligan has revealed that her new movie Never Let Me Go is a tear-jerker.
The actress has teamed up with Keira Knightley and Andrew Garfield for Mark Romanek's new movie, that has already received some Oscar talk.
And Mulligan admits that she struggled with her emotions as she worked on the film, which is based on a book by Kazuo Ishiguro.
Speaking to OK magazine the actress said: "It's always harder to maintain raw enthusiasm or joy than to go into a really dark place.
"I think for us with this it was trying not to cry. I cry all the time, it's my modus operandi.
"We all wanted to mark each other and say don't drop a tear, we were all watching each other. With our characters we didn't want to portray tragedy, we just wanted to live in the circumstances we were in and the circumstances we had."
It's been a successful year for Mulligan as she received her first Oscar nomination at the beginning of 2010 for her role in An Education.
She has, more recently, topped the box office with Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, which see her work with Oliver Stone and Michael Douglas.
She is currently filming Drive, which also stars Ryan Gosling, and she has On Chesil Beach, which is an adaptation of an Ian McEwan novel, in the pipeline.
Never Let Me Go is released 21st January.
