Carey Mulligan has revealed that she learnt how to work on a film set from her Pride and Prejudice co-star Keira Knightley.
The paired worked together on Joe Wright's adaptation of the Jane Austin novel, Knightley was Oscar nominated for her role as Elizabeth Bennett.
Speaking to Contactmusic the actress said: "That was my real education of how things are done. I watched Keira, who is still only the same age as me, handle her starring role.
"She was down to earth, talked to everyone and set very high standards, not only with her acting but also her behaviour.
"I learned that if you are playing the lead in a film there is a responsibility to the whole film and everyone employed on it. You can set the tone and the mood by your own behaviour."
And her on set 'education' seems to have paid off as Mulligan has bagged an Oscar nomination of her own for her performance in An Education.
She will battle it out for the Academy Award with Meryl Streep, Sandra Bullock, Gabourey Sidibe and Helen Mirren.
While Bullock is the favourite to walk away with the gong the British actress picked up the Bafta her performance last month.
