Carey Mulligan has revealed that she saw danger in her co-star Michael Fassbender.
The two team up for Steve McQueen's new movie Shame, which has been receiving rave reviews on the festival circuit.
The pair play brother and sister in the sex addiction based movie - a movie that could see both of them pick up Oscar nods for their performances.
But Mulligan described working with Fassbender as 'exciting' as he brought something different to the table with every take.
Speaking to USA Today the actress said: "Michael is genial and great, and doesn't put on a personality for people. He just is who he is.
"[While filming] I saw the danger in him. Whether it was a violent, aggressive scene or a calm and empathetic one, I saw danger there."
"More often than not, he would be different in every take. He had the license to grab me and do things.
"You can't be delicate and careful. It was so exciting, I never knew what he was going to do."
Mulligan is currently filming The Great Gatsby, which sees her team up with Leonardo DiCaprio.
Shame is released 13th January
