Charles 'Bubba' Smith died after taking too many diet pills, a coroner has ruled.
The towering former American football star, who played Moses Hightower in the film franchise Police Academy, was found dead at his home in California on 3 August (11). He was 66.
And now a Los Angeles County Coroner has disclosed the actor's cause of death, the first of which is "acute phentermine intoxication".
Phentermine is the generic term for a weightloss drug.
Pre-existing medical conditions such as heart disease and hypertension may have also played a role, according to TMZ.com.
