Bryan Singer has revealed that it is just coincidence that his new movie Jack and the Giant Killer has come at a time when fairy stories seem to be popular with filmmakers.
Jack and the Giant Killer is set to star Ian McShane, Ian McGregor and Nicholas Hoult and follows movies such as Sleeping Beauty - there are also two Snow White movies in the works.
But Singer says that this is a project that he has been working on for several years.
Speaking to IGN the filmmaker said:"I was involved with this over two-and-a-half years ago or even longer. I was flirting with it almost three years ago."
But the X-Men director admits that he is excited to be part of this 'renaissance' in fairy story movies.
"That's cool, it's a renaissance of those kind of movies and it's cool," Singer continued. "I'm happy to be a part of two renaissances, the comic book renaissance and now this one.
"But it wasn't intentional. In fact, I probably would have been shy about jumping into a fairytale movie with all of the projects out there now. I might have actually backed away from it."
