Bradley Cooper has admitted that they never tried to top The Hangover when making the new movie.

The wolfpack returned to the big screen last week, two years after the success of the original, as The Hangover - Part II was one of the most highly anticipated movies of the summer.

And it has enjoyed huge box office success so far breaking $100 million barrier in the U.S. and taking £10 million in the UK.

And the actor reveals that it was more about finding a new story than trying to top what they had already done.

Speaking to Heat the actor said: "It's not about topping it, cos then you're f**ked.

"I don't think it's about trying to top it, I think it's about trying to figure out a great, compelling story that has a lot of potential for comedy.

"And you have to raise the stakes. That's what it was for the first one: there's a clock, we have to do something by a certain time, and there's danger. If we can do that, we're set."

It's a second successive #1 movie for Cooper in 2011 having enjoyed a hit with Limitless earlier this year.

the Hangover - Part II is out now.
