Brad Pitt has described some of the projects in as 'fine wine' movies as they have the ability to endure over the years.
The actor as won over critics with his most recent movie Moneyball, which has seen him pick up a Best Actor Golden Globe nomination.
And Pitt admits that he is looking for longevity in the movies that he chooses.
Speaking to ContactMusic the actor said: "Filmmaking is about longevity. Is it a quality picture? A quality story? Is there something original about it?
"The thing we miss the most is the degree of difficulty, like in The Tree of Life.
"Just to aim for something like that - I think there's a quiet victory in the degree of difficulty there beyond what's going to be in the record books as the best picture of the year.
"Films that I've loved doing like [The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford] and The Tree of Life, they're 'fine wine' pictures - they'll age well. They've got legs."
Pitt is expected to pick up a Best actor Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Billy Beane in the Bennett Miller directed movie.
He has completed work on Voyage of Time, Cogan's Trade and World War Z.
