Bill Nighy is 'grateful' to be involved in the Harry Potter franchise.
The popular British star appears in the hit movies for the very first time in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which is due for release next year, as Minister of Magic Rufus Scrimgeour.
He told Digital Spy: "I thought I was going to be the only English actor not in Harry Potter. I think they ran out of English actors and they finally had to turn to me.
"I've worked with David Yates, the director, on The Girl In The Café and State Of Play and I love him. I think he is one of the great director's currently working and I'm very happy to be working with him again."
Harry Potter is currently riding on a wave of major success after the release of the latest movie which has grossed over $637 million in the two weeks that it has been in cinemas.
The film has topped the UK and the U.S box office but the film had to be content with number two in the State this week after being toppled by Nighy's new animation movie G-Force.
The Deathly Hallows, the book in the Harry Potter saga will be split into tow movies to be released in 2010 and 2011.
