Ben Affleck says it is exciting to be nominated for a Golden Globes.
The actor turned director has been recognised for his fantastic work behind the camera for his latest movie Argo and has need nominated in the Best Director category.
The movie bagged five nominations at the end of last week, including Best Picture, and Affleck says he appreciates it more because of the tough times that he has had.
Speaking to USA Today the actor said: "There were an awful lot of mornings where I woke up and nobody nominated me for anything. And, there were also times when I woke up and not only was I not getting any good news, but I was getting bad news.
"So, if you're going to deal with the downside, I think it's okay to enjoy the upside. It's definitely been a while for me, in this sense, so it really is exciting.
"It's exciting. When you've been kicked around a little bit, you have greater appreciation for a good thing."
Argo has been a critical triumph and one of the best movies to hit the big screen this year.
The movie, which is only Affleck's third outing as director, is also expected to be a major Oscar contender when the nominations are announced in early January.
