Ben Affleck says that it going to be 'exciting' and 'daunting' to tell the story of Whitey Bulger.
Affleck is set to direct the movie about the Boston mobster while his good friend Matt Damon with take on the role of Bulger.
Terry Winter is currently penning the screenplay and Affleck says that there are many things with this project that he has to get right.
Speaking to Boston.com the actor said: "It’s tough because it’s exciting and obviously daunting. Not only is it a real story, but it’s taken on the scale of a legend. . . .
"Whitey’s become, I don’t know, a modern-day [Al] Capone or something. The irony for me is the guy got caught not half a mile from my house.
"It’s a pretty amazing story and it’s going to require a lot of work, a lot of nuancing to get it right
"It’s one of those things: If you do Whitey, you better make damn sure you execute and make a good movie."
But Affleck is back in the director's chair with his new project Argo - which also sees him star in the movie.
The movie also stars Bryan Cranston and John Goodman and follows a joint operation between the CIA and the Canadian government to get six American out of Tehran.
The movie was met well at the Toronto International Film Festival this week and is another of the early Oscar contenders.
Argo is released 9th November.
