Beastly has been postponed to avoid a clash with Charlie St Cloud.
Vanessa Hudgens stars alongside Alex Pettyfer and Mary-Kate Olsen in the modern-day re-imagining of the classic Beauty and the Beast fairytale, which was due for release on 30 July (10).
But fans will now have to wait another eight months to see the picture - it has been pushed back until March 2011 after movie bosses discovered the release date clashed with the launch of Efron's upcoming film Charlie St. Cloud, according to the Hollywood reporter.
Directed by Daniel Barnz, beastly follows a New York teen who is transformed into a hideous monster in order to find true love.
The movie is the first for Hudgens since the disappointing Bandslam last year, it's also the first movie for Pettyfer since Tormented.
The British actor found fame with Stormbreaker and Wild Child and is currently filming I Am Number Four while Hudgens is heading into the theatre with Rent.
