Avatar's reign at the top of the U.S. box office showed no sign of coming to an end as it spends a fifth week at number one.
The movie has grossed a further $41 million this weekend and comfortably remained at number one. It's been a good weekend for the James Cameron movie taking the Best Picture Drama and Best Director gongs at the Golden Globes.
It was a new entry at two in the form of The Book of Eli starring Oscar winner Denzel Washington.
However the movie was $10 million behind Avatar but easily made number two with a gross of just over $31 million.
Peter Jackson's adaptation of Alice Sebold's The Lovely Bones was another new entry at three.
There was a one place drop for Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel from three to four and a three place drop for Sherlock Holmes to wrap up the top five.
The Spy Next Door was the final new entry inside the top ten this week at number six.
