Avatar has remained the top of the U.S. box office for a third week grossing a further $68 million.
The movie has taken $352 million at the America box office alone in the three weeks that it has been on general release.
Avatar is also the fifth movie to break the $1 billion barrier and is the fastest film in history to reach this landmark.
Sherlock Holmes stayed at number two as Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law join forces for Guy Ritchie’s adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous books.
Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel held onto the third spot while there was no more at four for It’s Complicated at four and The Blind Side at five.
The only movement inside the top ten came in the form of Did You Hear About the Morgans? Which moved up from nine to eight while musical Nine dropped from eight to nine.
