Arnold Schwarzenegger has no regrets about turning his back on acting for politics - despite missing out on an estimated $200 million (£132 million) in potential movie earnings.
The Austrian-born muscleman shunned lead roles in Hollywood to become the Governor of California in 2003, making only a few cameo appearances on screen, including last year's (10) The Expendables.
He left office earlier this month (Jan11), and admits in a new interview that his time away from the movie industry cost him dearly.
Schwarzenegger tells Austrian newspaper Krone, "In all it (lost film earnings) is probably more than $200 million."
And it wasn't just his bank balance which suffered - the long hours spent working as Governor was tough on his family as well.
He adds, "What was much worse was the damage my time as Governor did to the family. There is a lot there that needs to be repaired.
"(They said), 'We hate your job.' It was heartbreaking every time (I left home). In my second term of office, I did better. I tried to fly home every evening."
But Schwarzenegger is adamant he made the right choice in pursuing his political dreams: "I'm not sorry. It was more than worth it."
