Anthony Hopkins has described taking on the role of Alfred Hitchcock as 'daunting'.
The Oscar winning actor is set to play the legendary filmmaker in biopic Hitchcock - which is directed by Sacha Gervasi.
And Hopkins revealed that he never watched any of his scenes back during the filming of the movie.
Speaking to the Press Association the actor said: "I didn't want to hear my voice back or see any of it, I wouldn't see any playback because I didn't want to shock myself," the Welshman said.
"I saw the film when it was finally cut together and I was very pleased with it.
"It was a tough role to play, just tricky because everyone knows him and he has been such a formidable presence in our living rooms through the years and probably the most famous director of all time - so it was daunting."
The movie is set during the filming of Psycho and shows the relationship between the director and his wife Alma Reville - played by Helen Mirren.
Scarlett Johansson plays Janet Leigh in the movie while Danny Huston, Toni Collette and Jessica Biel are all also on the cast list.
2013 is set to be a busy year for the actor as he will be starring in Red and Thor: The Dark World - in which he will reprise the role of Odin.
Hitchcock is released 8th February.
