Anne Hathaway admits that she tried not to like the Love and Other Drugs script when she read it.

The Oscar nominated actress teams up with Jake Gyllenhaal in the Edward Zwick directed project, he also penned the script, and reveals that the movie would turn into a melodrama.

Talking to Vogue the actress said: "I tried not to like the script as much as I did, because it scared me.

The actress continued: "What if it becomes a melodrama? What if the audience doesn't find these challenging characters charming?

"There were so many things that could possibly go wrong with it."

Love and Other Drugs sees Hathaway take on the role of Maggie Murdock, a young woman who is suffering with Parkinson's Disease, who meets pharmaceutical salesman Jake.

And the actress admits that she was comfortable with the nudity scenes because it was relevant to her character. "These are people who have no trouble taking their clothes off - in a way, their bodies are their currency.

"But they're terrified of exposing their vulnerability, of becoming emotionally naked."

Hathaway has already enjoyed huge box office success this year after starring as the White Queen in Alice In Wonderland, the movie went on to take over $1 billion at the global box office.

Love and Other Drugs is released 29th December.
