Anne Hathaway has revealed that tackling the English accent for new movie One Day was a huge challenge.
The actress is back on the big screen later this month with an adaptation of the David Nicholls' best-selling novel - which also stars Jim Sturgess.
The actress plays Emma in the movie and she had to work on her Yorkshire accent for the part.
Speaking to the New York Daily News the actress said: "I used to think I had an awesome British accent, and then I did Becoming Jane [playing a young Jane Austen] and had a real dialect coach and I realised how far off I was.
"You have to consider all sorts of factors when creating a regional dialect, like where she went to school and where she lived after school. It's not like there is a standard British accent you can just use."
She added: "I used to think that I was the bee's knees when it came to a British accent, but now I know better.
"Who cares what people say? It's still not really in my repertoire. I'm much better at a New York accent."
The actress is currently filming The Dark Knight Rises in which she is set to take on the role of Catwoman.
One Day is released 24th August
