Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway is to open the Academy Awards with a song-and-dance routine, according to reports.
The Rachel Getting Married star was spotted rehearsing for a variety number at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on Thursday (19Feb09) and insiders claim she'll perform with Oscars host Hugh Jackman to kick off Sunday's (22Feb09) show.
The actress will be one of many stars who are set to join Jackman onstage, if reports are to be believed; Beyonce Knowles and High School Musical couple Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens are rumoured to be teaming up with the host for musical numbers.
The organisers of the ceremony have been tight lipped over who is to present the awards as well as who will perform but Robert Pattinson is expected to give out one of the gongs.
Hugh Jackman is a first time, and surprise, choice to host the awards after many had tipped Ricky Gervais for the job.
Earlier this week Jackman revealed that he hoped Heath Ledger would receive a posthumous award for Best Supporting Actor.
Ledger is a favourite to scoop the gong for his performance according to Academy Award experts. Other favourites to win on the night include Penelope Cruz and Slumdog Millionaire.
Other British hopefuls come in the shape of Kate Winslet who is expected to scoop Best Actress after winning the Golden Globe, Bafta and Screen Actors Guild for her performance in The Reader.
