Anne Hathaway reveals that she enjoyed singing live on set when shooting Les Misérables as she had never been asked to do that before.
The actress takes on the role of Fantine as Tom Hooper adapts the much loved stage show for the big screen.
Her rendition of I Dreamed A Dream looks set to be one of the most emotional scenes in the film and she says it was nice to be able to get into that moment.
Speaking to Flicks and Bits the actress said: "It's not something I've ever been asked to do before, everything's always been pre-recorded.
"I don't have extensive experience singing on film, but I loved getting to do everything spontaneously.
"Even to be able to turn the part of your brain off that you have to use when you're not singing in a film to match your performance. I loved that each take could live on its own, as its own unique expression."
The movie is being met with great reviews and is set to be a major contender when the Oscar nominations are announced in January.
Hathaway herself is expected to pick up a Best Supporting Actress nod and is a major frontrunner to win.
Les Misérables is released 11th January.
