Andrew Garfield has revealed that being cast as Spider-Man is an 'honour'.
The British actor beat off competition from the likes of Logan Lerman and Jamie Bell to land the lead role as Peter Parker in the reboot of the popular franchise.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter he said: "I feel like I’ve been preparing for it for a while," he said. "Ever since Halloween when I was 4-years-old and I wore my first Spider-Man costume."
"Like every young boy who feels stronger on the inside than they look on the outside, any skinny boy basically who wishes their muscles matched their sense of injustice, God, it’s just the stuff that dreams are made of, for sure."
"It’s a true f**king honour to be part of this symbol that I actually think is a very important symbol and it’s meant a great deal to me, and it continues to mean something to people."
The actor is back on the big screen later this year as he stars alongside Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan in Never Let Me Go, a big screen adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's novel.
He will also star as Eduardo Saverin The Social Network with Jesse Eisenberg, Rooney Mara and Justin Timberlake.
