British moviemakers Ridley and Tony Scott are bringing Alien back to the big screen with the help of a visionary young video director, who works for their Scott Free Productions company.
According to Bloody Disgusting the filmmaking pair have brought Carl Rinsch onto the project to direct. Rinsch is best known as an advert and music video director.
Fox co-chariman Tom Rothman had admitted that Scott was "toying with the idea" of doing a prequel, but no plot details have yet been revealed.
The Alien franchise kicked off in 1970 with Sigourney Weaver in the lead role, despite that role originally meant for a man.
Sigourney Weaver’s role of Ellen Ripley in four movies of the Alien franchise broke many gender stereotypes in the science fiction genre by featuring a strong heroine.
The film launched Weaver’s career and the success of Alien and the character of Ripley led to her becoming the main thread that ran through the series of movies.
But if she will return to the franchise that made her a star is still uncertain.
