Alex Pettyfer has revealed that he admires Paul Newman for his work on and off screen and admits that he has dreams to be a director.
The actor is back on the big screen next week as he teams up with Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey in Magic Mike.
Speaking to Men's Health the actor said: "I love that (Newman) is a great role model and a humanitarian. I admire people who don't necessarily want to change the world, but try to make it a better environment."
And while Pettyfer is enjoying success in front of the camera the actor says that he had plenty of dreams that he wants to achieve, including moving behind the camera.
"I'm very ambitious. I live in reality but I have dreams I want to fulfil.
"I want to be a director, and I've already started my own production company. But I also have a measure of success that I keep to myself. It's something very personal to me."
Magic Mike is the first film for Pettyfer since In Time and it is perhaps the most adult and challenging role for the actor to date.
The movie is based on Tatum's early days as a stripped and it directed by Oscar winners Steven Soderbergh.
Pettyfer is also set to star in The Butler, which is yet to begin filming, it is directed by Lee Daniels and stars Liam Neeson, James Franco and John Cusack.
Magic Mike is released 11th July.
