More award success came the way of Atonement yesterday as it scooped four of the six Richard Attenborough Film Awards.The film, which is nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars as well as winning the Golden Globe, was voted film of the year by British regional arts and entertainment journalists.Leading man James McAvoy was named actor of the year for his role as Robbie and director Joe Wright won film maker of the year.Christopher Hampton took the screenwriter's prize for his adaptation of Ian McEwan's very popular novel.However Keira Knightely missed out on the actress of the year award which was won by Cate Blanchett for her role in Elizabeth: The Golden Age.She also saw off competition from Oscar rivals Julie Christie and Marion Cotillard.The rising star of the year award went to newcomer Sam Riley for his role as Joy Division's singer Ian Curtis, who went on to commit suicide at the aged of twenty three, in Control.The awards were renamed this year to honour British actor and director Richard Attenborough.
