Actress recently finished shooting Ender's Game, and has Halle Berry thriller The Hive in the making; she's palying a ghost in Vincenzo Natali's Haunter and now Breslin's crossing to the other side of the horror divide to try out her scream-queen lungs as a Final Girl (not to be confused with Final Girls, directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson). Perhaps Abigail can put in use some of the skills she learned from Tallahassee in Zombieland.
The title refers to the well-worn slasher movie trope of whittling down a cast of teens until there's only a Final Girl to take on the maniac. Jamie Lee Curtis was the final girl in Halloween, for examle, as was Marilyn Burns in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Wold Creek played with those genre expectations quite cleverly, and Marcus Nispel is currently attached to direct Hack/Slash based on the comics about Cassie Hack, a final girl-turned-professional slasher killer.
Final Girl is a directorial debut for photogarpher Tyler Shields and the latest draft of the screenplay is by hot prospect Adam Prince. Start-date hasn't been announced yet, but there is some very bloody pre-Breslin sales art from Cannes Film Festival...
