Aaron Johnson has hit out at the critics of Kick Ass.
The film came under fire earlier this year for letting Chloe Moretz, who takes on the role of Hit Girl, for swearing in the movie but Johnson has hit back.
The actor has pointed out that the movie came with a suitable rating but has called the whole issue 'hypocritical' because young children are allowed to listed to unsuitable pop songs.
Speaking to GQ magazine the actor said: "I mean, at least we put a certificate on our film. It's hypocritical. The same parents that complain then allow their six-year-old kids to listen to Rihanna on the school run.
"I have nothing against Rihanna but have you heard the lyrics?"
The actor came out in support of his young co-star and believes that Moretz should be given more praise and credit for her performance in the movie:
"I don't see why they can't acknowledge the fact that someone so young can be so mature, have to deal with those circumstances, and pull it off with great brilliance."
2010 has been a busy year for Johnson as he has completed work on Chatroom and is currently filming The Phone, the latest movie from filmmaker Byeong-ki Ahn.
A Kick Ass sequel is also in the pipeline.
