Aaron Eckhart has revealed that he will not be appearing in Dark Knight Rises.
The actor starred alongside Christian Bale and Heath Ledger in the 2008 movie The Dark Knight as Harvey Dent - who later became Two Face but has revealed he is ‘heartbroken’ not to be reprising the role.
Speaking to MTV News the actor said: "Chris and I had a meeting, on the beach, just the two of us," he explained.
"I said, 'Chris, a lot of people are asking me if I'm in the next Batman'. And Chris said, 'Yes?' I said, 'Am I?' He looked at me and he said, 'No'."
"We found ourselves alone on the beach together on a stormy day and he delivered the news to me.
"And I was heartbroken. I was heartbroken. But Chris has his reasons and my life must go on."
Dark Knight Rising is the third Batman film for director Christopher Nolan and filming is expected to get underway in the new year.
And Eckhart will be back on the big screen next year with his new movie Rabbit Hole, which sees him team up with Nicole Kidman.
