12 Years A Slave

There was more awards success of 12 Years A Slave last night as the movie picked up Best Picture at Critics’ Choice Movie Awards.

The Oscar excitement around this movie is continuing to grow, and is now the favourite with the bookies to scoop the Best Picture Oscar.

Cate Blanchett won Best Actress once again for her role in Blue Jasmine.

There was also more triumph for Matthew McConaughey as he won Best Actor for Dallas Buyers Club.

McConaughey has already won the Golden Globe for his performance, and is in the Oscar mix when the nominations were announced yesterday.

Dallas Buyers Club did well at the ceremony last night, as Jared Leto also scooped the Best Supporting Actor award.

Jennifer Lawrence may have picked up the Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe at the weekend, but it was Lupita Nyong’o who scooped the Critics' Choice Award for 12 Years A Slave.

There were also wins for American Hustle, Gravity and Lone Survivor in the genre categories.
