While there has been talked of a possible Cloverfield sequel for some time, just about everyone was surprised when information dropped on 10 Cloverfield Lane earlier this week.

Directed by Dan Trachtenberg and produced by J.J. Abrams the movie is linked to the 2008 alien invasion film, but will introduce us to brand new characters. Check out the brand new poster for the film.
I have to admit, I am pleased that 10 Cloverfield Lane will not follow in its predecessor's footsteps and be a found-footage film - I found the camera shake on the original just a little too much.
The movie sees John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher Jr all living together in what looks like some kind of underground bunker.
While very little is known about the film, the movie follows a young woman, who, after waking up from a car accident finds herself in a basement with a man who claims to have saved her life from a chemical attack that has left the outside world uninhabitable. Is all what is seems?
10 Cloverfield Lane marks the feature film directorial debut of Trachtenberg as he makes the leap from shorts and television projects. Whiplash director Damien Chazelle has teamed up with Josh Campbell and Matthew Stuecken to pen the film's screenplay.
We may only be just officially learning about the film project, but we are only going to have to wait until April before the film hits the big screen here in the UK. It really does look like one of the spring films to watch out for.
