Ever since we saw the first images of The Iron Lady last year Meryl Streep has been the favourite to win the Best Actress Oscar.
On Tuesday she picked up her nomination but will do battle with Glenn Close, Viola Davis, Rooney Mara and Michelle Williams.
However the competition may come in the form of Michelle Williams with her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn.
So, much like the Best Actor category, we are going to see Streep take on Williams for the Oscar.
It seems that Streep is an Oscar favourite always picking up awards and wins - however you have to go back to 1982 and Sophie's Choice for her last win.
Yes it's been thirty year since Streep has got her hands on an Oscar - despite a whole host of nominations in that time.
So, despite that fact that she is the smoking hot favourite and it's a bit of a boring certainty, perhaps it is time that she was rewarded for her work.
Meryl Streep's portrayal of Margaret Thatcher was the best thing about The Iron Lady - she was much better than the movie itself.
Streep walked away with the Golden Globe - Drama for her central performance.
Michelle Williams picked up the Best Actress - Musical/Comedy for her performance in My Week With Marilyn.
To say that the Academy likes a biopic picture is an understatement so to see two performances from this genre to be nominated is not surprise.
It was a superb performance from the actress as she show the vulnerability and struggle of the actress behind the scenes.
I personally would love to see Williams pick up an Oscar because she is such a fabulous actress but it seems that this year may not be her time.
