We love Idris Elba here at FemaleFirst, and we are going to be seeing plenty of him on the big screen as he has a whole host of project heading our way.
But the film that is kicking up the most excitement is Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom, as Elba is set to play the iconic former President of South Africa.
The movie sees Elba team up with director Justin Chadwick, while William Nicholson has penned the screenplay.
And the first teaser trailer for the movie has been released. Check it out:
Naomie Harris is also set to star in the film as she takes on the role of Winnie Mandela.
Director Chadwick has made a name for himself mostly in television but he has been behind The Other Boleyn Girl and The First Grader.
This movie will see him reunite with actress Harris as the pair worked together on The First Grader back in 2010.
This epic motion picture spans Mandela’s extraordinary life, from his childhood in a rural village through to his inauguration as the first democratically elected President of South Africa.
Mandela is the thrilling story of an ordinary man who rose to the challenge of his times and triumphed - an intimate portrait of the making of a modern icon.
We have seen Elba turn in some fantastic performance on the big screen and on TV in recent years, but this is set to be the most important role of his career to date.
Elba is a fine actor and he is set to show what he is made off with this central performance.
Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom is released 3rd January 2014.
