Idris Elba has been making quite a name for himself in recent years, but Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom is set to be the movie role of his career so far.
The British actor will take on the role of Nelson Mandela as he teams up with director Justin Chadwick to tell this remarkable story.

The movie is based on the autobiography of the same name by Mandela, and has been adapted for the big screen by William Nicholson; he has written the screenplays for Gladiator, Elizabeth: The Golden Age and Les Miserables in recent years.
Elba is joined on the cast list by Naomie Harris, who will take on the role of Winnie Mandela. While Tony Kgoroge, Riaad Moosa and Jamie Bartlett will also star.
The film celebrates Nelson Mandela’s extraordinary journey from his childhood in a rural village through to his election as President of South Africa.
It explores the Mandela unknown to most of the world - the lover of fast cars and women, the boxing enthusiast and playboy, the skilful lawyer and the gun-toting freedom fighter - an intimate portrait of the making of a modern icon.
Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival, where Elba's central performance has been praised.
Idris Elba has been finding success on the big screen as well as on TV, and his star will only continue to shine.
Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom is released 3rd January 2014.
