Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom is set to be one of the movies not to miss in the new year as the fantastic Idris Elba returns to the big screen.
We love Elba here at FemaleFirst, and he is set to take on the role of former South African President Nelson Mandela in this new biopic movie; this is set to be one of the most important performances of his career to date.
You can’t beat a good biopic film and this is one that we are really looking forward to. And here is a brand new clip from the movie for you to take a look at:
The film is based on the autobiography of the same name and will see Justin Chadwick in the director’s chair. This is the third feature film of Chadwick’s career after finding success with The Other Boleyn Girl and The First Grader.
Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom marks the first time that Chadwick has worked with Elba, but this film sees him reunite with Naomie Harris, after they worked together on The First Grader.
Harris is set to take on the role of Winnie Mandela in the film, and she and Elba are joined on the cast list by Tony Kgorge and Riaad Moosa.
The film celebrates Nelson Mandela’s extraordinary journey from his childhood in a rural village through to his election as President of South Africa.
It explores the Mandela unknown to most of the world - the lover of fast cars and women, the boxing enthusiast and playboy, the skilful lawyer and the gun-toting freedom fighter - an intimate portrait of the making of a modern icon.
There are a series of exciting biopic movies coming our way in 2014, and Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom is just one of them.
