Labor Day will see the fantastic Kate Winslet return to the big screen in the new year.
It has been a while since we have seen the actress in a big dramatic film, but Labor Day is already being tipped as a movie that is not to be missed.
Labor Day is a big screen adaptation of the novel by Joyce Maynard and sees Jason Reitman return to the director's chair; he has also penned the screenplay.
This is a film that we are really looking forward to here at FemaleFirst, and here is the brand new trailer for you to check out:
We haven't seen Reitman in the director's chair since the success of Young Adult, but he has brought together a great cast as Winslet is joined by Josh Brolin, Clark Gregg and Tobey Maguire.
Labor Day centres on 13-year-old Henry Wheeler (Griffith / Maguire), who struggles to be the man of his house and care for his reclusive mother Adele (Winslet) while confronting all the pangs of adolescence.
On a back-to-school shopping trip, Henry and his mother encounter Frank Chambers (Brolin), a man both intimidating and clearly in need of help, who convinces them to take him into their home and later is revealed to be an escaped convict.
The events of this long Labor Day weekend will shape them for the rest of their lives.
Labor Day has been playing well on the festival circuit - Toronto and London being some of the big festivals were it has been on the programme - and the film is being tipped as a possible awards contender.
Labor Day is released 7th February.
