Jessica Chastain has seen her star rocket in the last couple of years with terrific performances in the likes of The Help, The Debt and Lawless.
This week sees her return to the big screen in Zero Dark Thirty and it kicks off another very exciting year for the actress.
Zero Dark Thirty sees Chastain team up with director Kathryn Bigelow for the very first time in a movie that follows the decade long search for Osama Bin Laden.
Chastain takes on the role of Maya in the film, a CIA office who has spent her entire career focusing and searching for intelligence related to Bin Laden and where he may be hiding.
Critics have heaped praise on Chastain for her central performance and she has been picking up awards and nominations left, right and centre.
Last weekend saw her triumph at the Golden Globes where she won the Best Actress - Drama gong.
She has also picked up nominations at the Bafta, Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Oscars.
The film may have whipped up some controversy in recent weeks but it has also topped the U.S. box office.
If horror is more your thing than we are going to see Chastain tackle that genre this year as she is set to lead the cast in Mama.
The film is directed by Andres Muschietti and is produced by the fantastic Guillermo Del Toro - if this is anywhere near as good as the Orphanage of Julia's Eyes then we are in for a treat.
Chastain and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau play partners in the new movie and they are faced with the challenge of raising his young nieces that were left alone in the forest for 5 years.... but how alone were they?
Mama is a supernatural thriller that has been thrilling U.S. audiences and currently sits at the top of the box office - Chastain holding this top two spots this week with this and Zero Dark Thirty.
As if two top ten movie wasn't enough Chastain will be back later this year with The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: His and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Hers in which she will play the title role.
Directed by Ned Benson the movie sees Chastain star alongside James McAvoy, Viola Davis, Ciaran Hinds and Bill Hader in this relationship drama.
Chastain has no two projects the same this year as she continues to demonstrate what a versatile and exciting actress she is.
Zero Dark Thirty is released 25th January.
