Jean-Marc Vallée is set to return to the director's chair this month with new film Demolition, a movie that sees him team up with Jake Gyllenhaal for the first time.
Vallée has already brought us films Wild and Dallas Buyers Club in recent years and Demolition is set to be another character driven drama. It is one of the April movies that I cannot wait to see.
Gyllenhaal is set to take on the central role of Davis, a man who is struggling after losing his wife in a car accident.
In this exclusive video, Vallée and Gyllenhaal talk about the film, the characters. We are also treated to some great moments from the film and some behind the scenes action. Take a look:
Gyllenhaal is one of our favourite actors here at FemaleFirst and Demolition is the first time that we have seen him on the big screen since Everest.
He has crafted some wonderful characters over the years and I cannot wait to see him collaborate with Vallée, a director whose films are driven by interesting and complex characters.
Naomi Watts and Chris Cooper are also on board and we will be introduced to the acting talents of Judah Lewis - who plays Watts' young son in the film.
Davis (Gyllenhaal), a successful investment banker, struggles after losing his wife in a tragic car crash. Despite pressure from his father in law Phil (Cooper) to pull it together, Davis continues to unravel. What starts as a complaint letter to a vending machine company turns into a series of letters revealing startling personal admissions.
Davis' letters catch the attention of customer service rep Karen (Watts) and, amidst emotional and financial burdens of her own, the two form an unlikely connection. With the help of Karen and her son Chris (Lewis), Davis starts to rebuild, beginning with the demolition of the life he once knew.
Demolition is released 29th April.
