When it comes to summer 2016 movies, there are few that I am looking forward to more than Jason Bourne, which sees Matt Damon reprise the title role.
It was back in 2002 when we were introduced to this character for the first time and it was 2007 when we last saw Bourne take on this role and kick some butt. He always said that he would not return without filmmaker Paul Greengrass... Jason Bourne sees the duo reunite.
Jason Bourne will be their fourth film together and the first since the terrific war drama Green Zone. For me, this movie would not have worked without Damon and Greengrass and I am excited to see where they take this terrific franchise next.
This was the role that really turned Damon into a bona fide leading man and action hero and I am thrilled to see him back. The Bourne franchise was one that got better as it went along and my expectations for Jason Bourne really are incredibly high - I have my fingers tightly crossed that it doesn't disappoint.
Greengrass has brought together a terrific cast as Alicia Vikander, Tommy Lee Jones, Vincent Cassel, and Riz Ahmed are some of the new faces on board.
Damon is not the only actor returning as we are going to see Julia Stiles reprise the role of Nicky, who has been with the franchise since the very beginning.
The plot for Jason Bourne is still a closely guarded secret but it will see the title character drawn out of the shadows once more. But who can he trust?
The first three Bourne films starring Damon have grossed over $900 million at the global box office and Jason Bourne really does look set to be the biggest and most successful instalment yet.
Could it finish the summer as the highest grossing film of the season? I guess we are going to have to wait and see. I have always been a fan of the Bourne franchise and it looks like this new movie really will not disappoint.
Jason Bourne is released 28th July.
