Ready Or Not follows young bride, Grace, as she joins her new husband’s rich, eccentric family in a time-honored tradition that turns into a lethal game with everyone fighting for their survival.
As the horror unfolds, Grace is forced to fight off and hide in the nooks and crannies of her new in-law’s creepy old mansion leaving audience-goers sitting at the edge of their seats.
To mark the release of Ready Or Not, which released nationwide this Wednesday, September 25th, we want to introduce you to the scream queen herself…
If you don’t know Samara Weaving’s name just yet, you will do very soon! Coming a long way from gracing the small screens in Home And Away, Ready Or Not cements Samara as the dark comedy heroine of the year. Far from your fairytale wedding, Ready Or Not sees Samara's character Grace battle it out against her in-laws in a deadly game of hide and seek.
Samara Weaving was born on February 23th, 1992 in Adelaide, South Australia, but spent the years after that growing up in Singapore, Fiji, Indonesia, and eventually moved back to Australia with her family. With a life of such hectic moving around, it should come as no surprise that she spent much time along the way performing in short films, dance and stage shows, and even with the Singapore Dance Company and Canberra Youth Theatre.
Growing up the daughter of a filmmaker and niece to film and theatre actor Hugo Weaving, the itch of acting came naturally to her. When it came time for Weaving to make a major career (and life) decision, Samara says “I had a big decision whether I go to university because I was working during high school. Home and Away offered me a three-year gig, and it was straight out of high school.”
Given how much experience her family had in the industry, there were plenty of experienced people in her inner circle to heed advice from.
“They were really supportive and were like, ‘Well, what do you really want to do?’ And I thought about it and, ‘Yeah, I want to be an actor.’ And they’re like, ‘Well, you can go to school for that or just learn on the job.’ Because they would say, if that’s your end result and you’ve got an opportunity, then take it.”
Weaving took it and plenty of excellent roles followed. She has since appeared as the leading lady in horror-comedy The Babysitter and in a small but unforgettable role in Martin McDonagh’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, and finally, as unlucky bride Grace in 2019’s Ready Or Not. Being hailed for her stellar performance, and an all-star cast from Andie MacDowell to Adam Brody, this dark comedy is one that’s not to be missed - if only to see Samara leading the action in her chic wedding dress!
Ready Or Not is available to watch now in cinemas across the UK.
