If you are looking for some excitement on the big screen this December then In The Heart of the Sea is not to be missed as Ron Howard returns to the director's chair.
In The Heart of the Sea is based on Nathaniel Philbrick's bestselling novel about the true journey of the Essex, a whaling ship that became the prey. This real-life story would go on to inspire the iconic tale of Moby Dick.
The movie sees Howard reunite with Chris Hemsworth for their second film project together - they teamed up back in 2013. This is the first film for Howard since the Formula 1 drama.
In The Heart of the Sea is a movie that I have been looking forward to for some and the final trailer has arrived. Check it out:
Hemsworth is set to take on the central role of Owen Chase and is joined on the cast list by Cillian Murphy, Ben Whishaw, Tom Holland, Brendan Gleeson, Paul Anderson, Charlotte Riley, and Michelle Fairley.
In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville's Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. In the Heart of the Sea reveals the encounter's harrowing aftermath, as the ship's surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive.
Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down.
Howard is one of the most exciting filmmakers and has brought us movies such as Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, and Frost/Nixon during his career. It is always exciting when a Howard movie is on the horizon and I cannot wait to see what he delivers with In The Heart of the Sea.
In The Heart of the Sea is released 26th December.
