Gone Girl

Gone Girl

If the drama/thriller is something that you like seeing on the big screen, then look no further than Gone Girl this autumn.

One of the reasons that I am so excited about Gone Girl, is it marks the return of David Fincher to the director's chair.

Fincher has been behind some terrific films during his career - Fight Club and Se7en being a couple of highlights - but this is his first film since The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Another exciting element of this film is it sees Ben Affleck back in a lead role: this is also the first time that Affleck that has worked with Fincher.

Gone Girl is a big screen adaptation of the novel of the same name by Gillian Flynn, and is the first of her books to be adapted for the big screen.

However, it is Flynn herself who has adapted her own book, and she hinted that she has made some changes to the final third of the book.

It is always interesting when author is behind the adaptation of their book and can revisit the story and the characters. I really cannot wait to see what changes she has made from the original novel.

Affleck has really turned his acting career around in recent years, and Gone Girl looks set to be another terrific role for him to really get his teeth into.

And he is joined on the cast list by Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Missy Pyle, Scoot McNairy, and Patrick Fugit.

It is always interesting when author is behind the adaptation of their book and can revisit the story and the characters. I really cannot wait to see what changes she has made from the original novel.

On the occasion of his fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne (Affleck) reports that his beautiful wife, Amy (Pike), has gone missing.

Under pressure from the police and a growing media frenzy, Nick’s portrait of a blissful union begins to crumble.

Soon his lies, deceits, and strange behaviour has everyone asking the same dark question: Did Nick Dunne kill his wife?

Gone Girl is already one of the most anticipated films of the autumn, and I have my fingers crossed that it lives up to all the early expectation.

Gone Girl is released 3rd October.
