Sundance Award winning musical feature film God Help The Girl is a whimsical, coming of age tale set in Glasgow over the course of one hazy summer, starring Emily Browning (Sucker Punch, Magic Magic), and releasing in UK cinemas August 2014 through Metrodome Distribution.
Teenager Eve (Emily Browning) is in hospital dealing with emotional problems and writing songs as a coping mechanism.
She absconds and befriends gawky guitarist James (Olly Alexander - Gulliver’s Travels, Le-Weekend ), a fellow aspiring musician who works in the local leisure centre and Cassie (Hannah Murray. - Skins, Dark Shadows) another young vocalist who dreams of being in a successful band.
Together the three embark on a musical journey which transcends into a story of self discovery and acceptance over the course of one dream-like summer.
Written and directed by Stuart Murdoch, lead singer of the group Belle and Sebastian and featuring original songs from the bands same titled album project, God Help The Girl is a story of a young girls problems entering adult life, uniquely told through a soundtrack of indie pop.
The film also premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 2014 and was awarded a special jury prize at the festival.
God Help The Girl will be released in UK cinemas in August 2014.
