The Oscar nominations were announced earlier this week and while there are five names in the Best Actor category but there seem to be only two in the race.
No disrespect to Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt and Demian Bichir but the winner will be either George Clooney or Jean Dujardin.
Yes it seems that all anyone is talking about is The Artist and The Descendants, in which both Dujardin & Clooney give career defining performances.
The pair already have a whole host of gongs and nominations under their belts - most notably they both picked up Golden Globes just last week.
Clooney walked away with Best Actor in a Drama while Dujardin won Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy.
But on the biggest night on the movie calendar the pair are set to go head to head.
Clooney has been an Oscar favourite over the years with a BEst Supporting Actor win for Syriana as well as Best Actor nods for Michael Clayton and Up In The Air.
However despite all this he has never got his hands on the big prize and it is possible that the Academy will feel that it is time.
On the other hand the Acadmey do lie recognising new talent and while Dujardin is a huge star in France he is making a global breakthrough with The Artist.
The Artist is making such an impact because it is so different to anything else that we have seen so far this year that that might work in the actor's favour.
But I can't see Clooney getting overlooked again. And for losing Best Actor maybe The Artist will see off the challenge from The Descendants for Best Picture.
The winners will be announced Sunday 26th February.
