Looking Back At Gabrielle Union’s Career Ahead Of Breaking In

This Friday sees the release of the new thriller Breaking In and Gabrielle Union’s return to the big screen. In her latest role, Gabrielle stars as a woman who will stop at nothing to rescue her two children being held hostage in a house designed with impenetrable security. No trap, no trick and especially no man inside can match a mother with a mission when she is determined to break in. To celebrate her return, we’re taking a look back at her career and some of her best on-screen moments.

1) Bad Boys II

The buddy cop duo of Marcus and Mike return in Bad Boys II where Gabrielle takes centre stage as Mike’s (Will Smith) girlfriend. Unbeknownst to Marcus and Mike, she’s an undercover DEA agent laundering money for Russian gangsters. Gabrielle has some serious kick-ass scenes showing she’s more than just a pretty face.

2) Bring It On

Who doesn’t remember the cheerleading hit starring Kirsten Dunst as cheer captain Torrence?! The cheerleading champ discovers her squad’s previous captain stole all their best routines from an inner-city school in Compton. Gabrielle plays the new team captain for the Compton Clovers who, with her team, challenges the Rancho Carnes Toros to prove they’re worthy of their championship trophies.

3) 10 Things I Hate About You

Heath Ledger had us all swooning as the mysterious bad boy in 10 Things I Hate About You. The iconic teen film showcases the quintessential American high school experience, where Gabrielle took on the role of Chastity; a popular, pretty mean girl who is desperate to remain at the top of the social ladder.

4) Daddy’s Little Girls

The on-screen chemistry between Gabrielle and Idris Elba in Daddy’s Little Girls was undeniable. Gabrielle played the successful but lonely attorney, who’s brought on to win a custody battle for mechanic Monty (Elba). Their relationship blossoms along the way, with the film telling a touching story of two people who find love despite their hugely different backgrounds and circumstances.

5) She’s All That

This classic 90s chick flick stars Freddie Prinze Jr. as the popular high school jock who makes a bet that he can turn super nerd Laney into the school’s prom queen. Gabrielle stars as Katie; one of the popular girls that’s part of the jock’s crew, and someone who befriends Laney.
