There is now just over a week to go until the BFI London Film Festival is under way.
Not only are there some fantastic movies to watch out for, but there are also some great female led projects that are not to be missed.
Philomena
One of the movies with a stand out female lead come courtesy of Philomena, as Judi Dench makes a return to the big screen.
This is one of the movies that I am most looking forward to as it is set to be an emotional real-life story.
Dench will take on the role of Philomena Lee - a woman who has searched for her child, after he was taken away from her decades ago.
Stephen Frears is in the director's chair, while Steve Coogan is also on the cast list as the journalist who helps Philomena hunt for her son.
Dench delivers a bold performance of blunt naturalism bringing out the heartbreaking drama of the ongoing bond between mother and lost son.
Blue Is The Warmest Colour
Blue Is The Warmest Colour has already been whipping up a storm on the festival circuit as it won the Palme d'Or earlier this year.
The movie is based on the graphic novel Blue Angel and sees Adèle Exarchopoulos and Lea Seydoux lead the cast list.
Adèle Exarchopoulos is Adèle, a young woman whose longings and ecstasies and losses are charted across a span of several years. Léa Seydoux (Midnight in Paris) is the older woman who excites her desire and becomes the love of her life.
The extended lesbian sex scenes made headlines in Cannes with these sequences being remarkably new to mainstream film and the girls give us intense and striking portrayals in this exploration of the messy turbulence of life and love.
We Are The Best
We Are The Best is another film to watch out for as Lukas Moodysson returns to the director's chair.
This is a coming of age tale set in Stockholm during the eighties and will follow three teenage girls who want to start a punk band.
Mira Barkhammar, Mira Grosin and Liv LeMoyne are on the cast list. The young girls boast electric performances in a warm and effortless story of musical inspiration.
Tracks
Mia Wasikowska is one of the best actresses of her generation and has enjoyed some major success in recent years.
Tracks is her latest film and sees her team up with director John Curran for the first time.
The movie is based on the true story of Robyn Davidson who in 1977 undertook a solo journey across the harsh Australian outback.
Wasikowska will take on the role of Davidson in the movie in what is set to be one of the toughest roles of her career so far.
Sarah Prefers To Run
Sarah Prefers To Run marks the feature film directorial debut for Chloé Robichaud.
The movie follows a girl enters a marriage of convenience to be able to afford a prestigious athletics programme, exploring a young girls internal dilemma.
Sophie Desmarais takes on the central role of Sarah as she continues to move between film and TV projects.
Under The Skin
Scarlett Johansson has two films at this year's London Film Festival, but Under The Skin is the one that we are focusing on.
The movie sees her take on the role of an alien in human form as she preys on unsuspecting victims.
Under The Skin is a big screen adaptation of the novel by Michel Faber and sees Jonathan Glazer in the director's chair; this will be the first time that the director has worked with the actress.
Under The Skin has been on the festival circuit for a few weeks and sees Johnasson take on a very different role.
