Far From The Madding Crowd is set to be one of the period drams that we are super excited about here at FemaleFirst as it sees the fantastic Carey Mulligan return to the big screen.
I don't know about you, but there has been a real lack of Mulligan on the big screen in the last year, as it was the beginning of 2014 with Inside Llewyn Davis when she starred in a movie last.
However, the wait for her return is almost over as she takes on the role of literary heroine Bathsheba Everdene in the adaptation of Far From The Madding Crowd - I really cannot wait to see her tackle and explore this great character.
The first clip for the film has been released by Fox Searchlight Pictures, and sees Mulligan come face to face with Matthias Schoenaerts:
Far From The Madding Crowd is an adaptation of the novel by Thomas Hardy and sees Thomas Vinterberg back in the director's chair for the first time since The Hunt.
The director has assembled a terrific cast as Mulligan and Schoenaerts are joined by Michael Sheen, Tom Sturridge, Juno Temple, and Jessica Barden,
Far From The Madding Crowd is the story of independent, beautiful and headstrong Bathsheba Everdene (Mulligan), who attracts three very different suitors: Gabriel Oak (Schoenaerts), a sheep farmer, captivated by her fetching wilfulness; Frank Troy (Sturridge), a handsome and reckless Sergeant; and William Boldwood ( Sheen), a prosperous and mature bachelor.
This timeless story of Bathsheba's choices and passions explores the nature of relationships and love - as well as the human ability to overcome hardships through resilience and perseverance.
