Don Jon

Don Jon

There are quite a few actors making their directorial debut in 2013 and Joseph Gordon Levitt is one of the most exciting.

Don Jon premiered at the beginning of the year at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival and the hype around this movie has been growing and growing.

Joseph Gordon Levitt is one of the most exciting actors in Hollywood and now he looks set to show that he is also going to be a force to reckon with in the director's chair as well.

Not only is Gordon Levitt showing off his directing skills but he has also penned the screenplay and so his talent as a writer is also going to be on show.

I have to admit that it is one of the movies that I am most looking forward to this autumn.

And this may be Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut but this hasn't stopped a whole host of stars lining up to be involved as Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore and Tony Danza are all also on board.

Jon Martello (Gordon-Levitt) is a strong, handsome, good old fashioned guy. His buddies call him Don Jon due to his ability to "pull" a different woman every weekend, but even the finest fling doesn't compare to the bliss he finds alone in front of the computer watching pornography.

Barbara Sugarman (Johansson) is a bright, beautiful, good old fashioned girl. Raised on romantic Hollywood movies, she's determined to find her Prince Charming and ride off into the sunset.

Wrestling with good old fashioned expectations of the opposite sex, Jon and Barbara struggle against a media culture full of false fantasies to try and find true intimacy in this unexpected comedy.

It is always great to see actors make the move into the director's as so many of them make such excellent filmmakers.

The more I see of Don Jon the more I am confident that Gordon-Levitt is going to carry on this fine tradition.

Don Jon is released 15th November.
