Kristen Stewart has some interesting film projects on the horizon, and Camp X-Ray is set to be one not to miss.
Stewart is set to play a solider at Guantanamo Bay in the Peter Sattler directed film: he has also penned the screenplay. Camp X-Ray marks the feature film directorial debut for Sattler as he makes the leap from shorts.
This looks set to be a role that we have not see Stewart tackle yet, and IFC Films have released the first feature length trailer for the movie:
Stewart takes on the central role of Pvt. Amy Cole in the film, and is joined on the cast list by Peyman Moaadi, John Carroll Lynch, Lane Garrison, and Tara Holt.
A young woman joins the military to be part of something bigger than herself and her small town roots. But she ends up as a new guard at Guantanamo Bay instead, where her mission is far from black and white.
Surrounded by hostile jihadists and aggressive squadmates, she strikes up an unusual friendship with one of the detainees.
A story of two people, on opposite sides of a war, struggling to find their way through the ethical quagmire of Guantanamo Bay. And in the process, they form an unlikely bond that changes them both.
Camp X-Ray was a movie that screened at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, and it is a performance fro Stewart that I cannot wait to see.
Camp X-Ray is released 17th October in the U.S. but no UK release date has yet been announced.
