Alice Englert is someone that everyone should keep a sharp eye on this year as she is set to see her star rocket.
She may have kicked of her acting career back in 2006 but her role in Ginger & Rosa last and the projects that she has hitting the big screen this year are set to make her a major breakthrough star.
A career in acting was inevitable for the Aussie being the daughter of directors Jane Campion and Colin Englert and now she is finding her own way in the industry.
She will be returning to the big screen this week as she takes on the role of Lena Duchannes in the adaptation of the popular novel Beautiful Creatures.
But it was 2006 when she made her acting debut appearing in the short The Water Diary.
She worked sparingly on short projects over the next few years with the likes of Flame of the West and 8 under her belt.
But it was last year when she grabbed everyone's attention as she teamed up with Elle Fanning for Ginger & Rosa.
Directed by Sally Porter the movie followed two girls as their friendship is put to the test during the struggles of the Cold War.
The movie won over audiences on the festival circuit - playing in the likes of Toronto and London - and it announced Englert on the acting scene as she picked up a Best Supporting Actress nomination at the British Independent Film Awards.
But Beautiful Creatures looks set to be the film that takes her career to the next level as she teams up with director Richard LaGravenese.
The film is an adaptation of the novel of the same name by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl and is being tipped to replace the popular Twilight Saga.
The film follows Lena Duchannes and Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich) two strangers who are inextricably linked by supernatural events that took place long before they were born.
Even when Lena confesses to being a 'Caster,' a witch, and warns him that he could be hurt just by being with her, Ethan’s affections are unwavering - but she fears for his safety.
So she makes an incredible sacrifice: she erases their love from Ethan’s memory. But their connection is inescapable, and as Darkness closes in on Lena, she will have to choose between saving Ethan and holding on to everything else she cares about.
The love of Lena and Ethan is set to be the latest supernatural love story to hit the big screen and it promises to be a real treat for fans of this genre.
As for Englert this is not the only project that we will be seeing her in this year In Fear and Singularity will also hit the big screen.
Directed by Roland Joffe the movie sees the young actress team up with Josh Hartnett and Tamsin Egerton.
With each project Englert's career seems to be going from strength to strength and she is someone who looks set for stardom.
Beautiful Creatures is released 13th February.
