Teenager Nick Twisp (Cera) is a unique, but affable teen with a taste for the finer things in life like Sinatra and Fellini who falls hopelessly in love with the beautiful, free-spirited Sheeni Saunders (Doubleday) while on a family vacation.
But family, geography and jealous ex-lovers conspire to keep these two apart. With Sheeni’s encouragement, Nick abandons his dull, predictable life and develops a rebellious alter ego: Francois Dillinger.
With his accent, his moustache and his cigarette, Francois will stop at nothing to be with Sheeni, and leads Nick Twisp on a path of destruction with unpredictable and uproarious consequences.
To celebrate this release, we have found the perfect hapless volunteer who was in desperate need for a little makeover to give him the confidence, charm, and looks to get his hands on the girl of his dreams...
Meet Nigel Dandridge, he is 19 years old and works in a print copy shop in Dulwhich.
He left school with only 2 G.C.S.E’s but his passion is to be a comic book writer.
He is a huge fan of comic books and says that one day he would like to have his very own franchise, very much like DC or Marvel.
He says "I love the fact that when I am writing my comics, I can be whoever I want - I can have any super power or get the girl of my dreams, it’s amazing".
We asked Nigel what his relationship status was like, he replied "I am not and have never been in a relationship, or ever been with a girl for that matter!" He continues..
"It’s not through lack of trying - girls either laugh at me or don’t even notice that I am their half the time!"
Right Nigel, we are going to give you a makeover that will give you the very same powers that Michael Cera’s character Francois Dillinger has in Youth in Revolt.
Stage 1: ‘Off with the hair'! Haircut and shave - keeping the moustache as that gives the sauve ‘cool and mysterious’ look
Stage 2: The face pack - this will give Nigel’s complexion a nice smoothness
Stage 3: 'Straighten that back' - Time to work in the posture and to put some smart and sophisticated clothes on for the final product. Ding dong - honey, I’m home!
Youth In Revolt is released on DVD and Blu-Ray 12th July.
