In a career that has spanned over twenty years Woody Harrelson has proved to be one of the industry's most versatile actors as he movies between genres with ease.
Like so many actor Harrelson began his acting career in TV in hit show Cheers in the role of Woody Boyd, joining in season four and staying for a further eight.
At the end of Cheers the actor began to move into movies, although he did return to TV with Frasier and Will and Grace in the late nineties, with the likes of Wildcats and White Men Can't Jump in the early days of his film career.
1993 was a great year for the actor as he starred in Indecent Proposal alongside Demi Moore and Robert Redford before moving onto one of his most famous roles of Mickey Knox.
Of course I'm talking about Oliver Stone's Natural Born Killers which followed two victims of traumatized childhoods become lovers and psychopathic serial murderers irresponsibly glorified by the mass media
But it was a mixed response from the critics, and the level of violence was heavily criticised.
But there were award nominations for his next movie The People vs. Larry Flynt, in which he played founder of Hustler magazine Larry Flynt.
His performance earnt him both a Golden Globe and Oscar nomination for Best Actor and his career really did take off.
Over the next couple of years he appeared in the likes of Thin Red Line and The Hi-Lo Country before taking a break from the big screen.
In his time away from film he moved into theatre as he directed his own play Furthest from the Sun before acting on Broadway in The Rainmaker and The Late Henry Moss.
After a four year hiatus Harrelson returned to the big screen with Anger Management before going onto Go Further and Scorched.
In recent years the actor has mixed and matched his roles to great effect with drama such as The Walker and No Country For Old Men as well as comedy such as Semi-Pro and new movie Zombieland.
Two men have found a way to survive a world overrun by zombies. Columbus is a big wuss, but when you're afraid of being eaten by zombies, fear can keep you alive.
Tallahassee is an AK-totin', zombie-slayin' badass whose single determination is to get the last Twinkie on earth.
As they join forces with Wichita and Little Rock, who have also found unique ways to survive the zombie mayhem, they will have to determine which is worse: relying on each other or succumbing to the zombies.
In the pipeline for the actor includes war movie The Messenger, big budget disaster movie 2012 before returning to comedy with Defendor.
Zombieland is out now.
