Saoirse Ronan In Hanna

Saoirse Ronan In Hanna

Saoirse Ronan is back on the big screen this week as she reunites with her Atonement director Joe Wright for Hanna.

Hanna sees the young actress take on a more action role, a new genre for the star, as she appears alongside Cate Blanchett and Eric Bana.

In recent years Ronan has proved to be one of the most exciting to be working in Hollywood at the moment as she has moved from Atonement to The Lovely Bones and The Way Back.

So to celebrate the release of Hanna we take a look at some of the British actresses that you must keep an eye out for over the next twelve months.

- Felicity Jones

It's already been a busy 2011 for the actress with the release of The Tempest and Chalet Girl, which saw her take on her first major lead role.

The movie was met well by the critics and performed well at the box office and launched the actress as a talent to keep an eye on.

And there is plenty in the pipeline for Jones as she has already completed work on Hysteria, which sees her team up with Maggie Gyllenhaal and Rupert Everett, and Page Eight, which stars Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz.

- Lily Collins

Lily Collins may have got her breakthrough playing Collins Tuohy in The Blind Side last year but it's 2011 that is set to launch her as an acting star.

She returns to the big screen this week in action movie Priest, which sees Paul Bettany reunite with Legion filmmaker Scott Charles Stewart.

But it's later this summer and the role in Abduction that could turn a few heads. It's first major role for the actress as she stars alongside Taylor Lautner in the all action movie.

And it doesn't stop there as The Mortal Instruments and The Brothers Grimm: Snow White are both in the pipeline.

- Juno Temple

Juno Temple is a young actress who is not afraid of mixing and matching her roles moving from the likes of Atonement and Cracks to shorts.

But the roles keep on flooding in and Little Birds, which is directed by Elgin James, is a movie to look out for.

There is already some muttering surrounding this release when it was screened at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

The actress goes more mainstream later this year with the role of Queen Anne in the remake of The Three Musketeers - following this up with a role in the highly anticipated The Dark Knight Rises.

- Rosie Huntingdon Whiteley

Rosie Huntingdon Whiteley is set to make her big screen debut later this summer when she takes on the role of Carly in Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon.

Michael Bay has a knack of casting talent as Transformers launched the career of Megan Fox back in 2007.

Dark Side of the Moon sees the lingerie model play the new love interest if Sam, once again played by Shia LaBeouf.

- Romola Garai

Romola Garai has swapped the big screen for TV so far this year as she starred in BBC drama The Crimson Petal and The White.

But movies beckon for the rest of 2011 as she has already completed work on One Day, which sees her star alongside Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess.

She returns to a dramatic role with the hard hitting Junkhearts alongside Eddie Marsan and Tom Sturridge.

- Kaya Scodelario

Kaya Scodelario made her name starring in hit UK TV series Skins but it hasn’t taken long for movies to come calling.

Having already appeared in Clash of the Titans and Shank she is all set to star as Catherine Earnshaw and a new adaptation of Wuthering Heights.

She is currently filming Twenty8k, which also stars Parminder Nagra, and she has been linked to Invisible, which is set to be directed by Robert Cavanah.

- Carey Mulligan

Carey Mulligan is one of the most talented British actresses currently working in movies and she has already turned in a stunning performance in Never Let Me Go - a movie that you should really check out if you haven’t already.

She has two other movies for release this year and they come in the form of Drive and Shame. Drive sees her star alongside Ryan Gosling while Shame is the new movie from Steve McQueen.

Mulligan is also set to take on the role of Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby.

Hanna is released 6th May
